The origin of the Hula comes for a legend involving the volcano goddess Pele, her sister Hi'iaka and a young chief named Lohi'au. Hi'iaka and Lohi'au go on a quest together. Pele claims Lohi'au as her own and warns Hi'iaka not to fall in love with the young chief. The quest continues and ends in an epic fashion.
